Hi there. We had a Keystone window / wall ac installed replacing the 1985 unit in our apartment. It is only days old. We have it set on cool-62. It is 94’ outside and the unit sounds like it is struggling to keep up. It is actually blowing hot air. The model # is kstat08-1D. Is this the way it should be? Thank you.

    1. It is not normal for a new air conditioner to blow hot air. The model number you provided, KSTAT08-1D, is a 8,000 BTU window air conditioner. This means that it is designed to cool a space of up to 350 square feet. If your apartment is larger than this, then the air conditioner may not be able to keep up with the cooling demand.

In addition, the fact that the air conditioner is struggling to keep up and sounds like it is working hard is a sign that there may be a problem with the unit. It is possible that the air conditioner is not getting enough refrigerant, or that there is a problem with the compressor.

I would recommend that you contact the manufacturer or the installer of the air conditioner to have it checked out. They will be able to diagnose the problem and recommend a solution.
