If your Black and Decker portable air conditioner is not working properly, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot the issue.
First, check to make sure that the unit is properly plugged into an outlet and that the circuit breaker has not been tripped.
Next, check the air filter to see if it needs to be cleaned or replaced.
If the unit is still not working properly, consult the user manual for further troubleshooting steps.

Why is My Black And Decker Portable AC not Cooling?
If your Black and Decker portable AC unit is not cooling, there are a few potential reasons why.
The most common reason is that the unit is not properly ventilated.
Make sure that the exhaust hose is correctly attached to the unit and that there are no blockages in the hose.
If the unit is still not cooling, it may be low on refrigerant. Check the level of refrigerant and add more if needed.
If neither of these solutions solve the problem, you may need to call a professional for help.
How Do I Reset My Portable Air Conditioner?

If your portable air conditioner isn’t working as well as it used to, it may be time for a reset. Here’s how to do it:
1. Unplug the unit from its power source and remove any water that may be in the reservoir.
2. Wipe down the inside and outside of the unit with a damp cloth.
3. Check all connections, including the exhaust hose, to ensure they’re secure.
4. Plug the unit back in and turn it on.
What Does Ft Mean on a Black & Decker Portable Air Conditioner?
When shopping for a portable air conditioner, you may notice that some units are labeled as “FT.”
This designation means the unit is designed for use in a room with French doors.
French doors are a type of door that has two panels, each of which opens independently.
Because portable air conditioners require an opening to vent hot air outside, they can’t be used with traditional entry doors.
However, units labeled as “FT” have a special adapter kit that allows them to be appropriately vented through French doors.
Why is My Portable AC running But Not Cooling?
There are a few possible reasons if your portable AC is running but not cooling.
The most common reason is that the unit is improperly sized for its room.
Portable ACs need to be sized correctly to work efficiently.
Another possibility is that the unit isn’t plugged in correctly or that the circuit breaker has tripped.
If none of these are the issue, it’s possible that there’s something wrong with the compressor or other parts of the unit.
Contact the manufacturer for assistance if your portable AC is still under warranty.
Otherwise, you can try troubleshooting the problem yourself or hire a professional to take a look at it.
Black And Decker Portable Air Conditioner Error Codes

If you’ve ever turned on your Black and Decker portable air conditioner only to be greeted by an error code, then you know the frustration that can come with trying to figure out what’s wrong.
In this blog post, we’ll help decode some of the most common error codes so you can get your AC unit up and running again in no time.
One of the most common error codes is E1, which indicates a problem with the unit’s evaporator temperature sensor.
This sensor is responsible for measuring the temperature of the air inside the unit, and if it isn’t working properly, it can cause the unit to shut down.
Luckily, this is usually an easy fix – simply unplugging the unit and letting it cool down for about 15 minutes should reset the sensor and allow the unit to start working again.
Another common error code is E2, which indicates a problem with the condenser temperature sensor.
This sensor measures the temperature of the air outside the unit, and if it isn’t working properly, it can cause your AC unit to overheat.
Again, this is usually an easy fix – simply unplugging the unit and letting it cool down for about 15 minutes should reset the sensor and allow your AC unit to start working again.
If you see either of these error codes, don’t panic!
These are both relatively easy fixes you can do yourself without calling a technician.
However, if you’re still having trouble after following these steps or see another error code that isn’t listed here, please call us so we can help troubleshoot further.

First, make sure that you have all the necessary tools. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a flathead screwdriver, and a pair of pliers.
Next, locate the two screws on the top of the unit.
These screws hold the top panel in place. Remove these screws with your Phillips head screwdriver.
Once the top panel is removed, you will be able to see the innards of the unit. Locate the large black knob on the right side of the unit.
This knob controls the airflow direction.
Turn this knob counterclockwise to loosen it, then pull it off completely.
Now, locate the small silver knob on the unit’s left side (near where the power cord comes out). This knob controls the fan speed.
Turn this knob counterclockwise to loosen it, then pull it off completely.

I got my black and decker portable air conditioner 10,000 btu as a gift. When i got it home and hooked it up, turned it on, the panel reads PF, ‘probe failure’. Can i fix it, and how?
Hey, Craig
The error code “PF” indicates it has faulty/damaged sensor. In this case contact your unit manufacturer if it is under warranty.
If your unit don’t have warranty then simply test your luck by following these steps:
Possible cause:
A loose or damaged sensor
A faulty control board
A problem with the wiring
Solutions:
Locate the sensor that is associated with the PF error code. This is usually a small, black box with a wire connected to it.
Inspect the sensor for any damage. If the sensor is damaged, replace it.
Reconnect the wire to the sensor and plug the air conditioner back in.
Turn on the air conditioner and see if the PF error code is still displayed.
Hope for the best and let me know the update if your luck favor you this time.
Black and Decker BPACT10WT worked great last year. Now the fan never shuts off. Still cooling great. Tried different settings but nothing seems to correct the problem.
Interesting problem you have Sharon. Actually this happens because of Fan mode/settings. Hope you already tried with these and ultimately reset full unit will run its default settings.
However, you can try these before call an HVAC expert:
Clean or replace the air filter: A clogged or dirty air filter can cause the air conditioner to run inefficiently and potentially keep the fan running continuously. Remove the filter and clean it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If the filter is damaged or too dirty to clean, consider replacing it with a new one.
Inspect the control panel: Examine the control panel for any physical damage or stuck buttons. Sometimes, a malfunctioning button or control switch can cause the fan to stay on. If you notice any issues, contact the manufacturer for further assistance or consider having the unit serviced.
Hope your Black and Decker resolve the issue!
Only had my black n decker for 4 months it turns on and tired to cool down but then goes back to fan mode.
It sounds like the unit is trying to cool down, but then it switches back to fan mode. This could be caused by a number of things, including:
+ The air filter is dirty
+ The exhaust hose is kinked or blocked
+ The condensate drain is clogged.
+ The compressor is not working properly
You could try to troubleshoot these issues yourself or contact a qualified technician for repair.
I hope this help!
I just purchased the Black and Decker BPACT10WT for my popup camper. It seems to work well and cool BUT, if I leave it on all night, go and check the temp in the morning, it is always off with just the 2 dashes on the display. I can simply turn it on at the control panel or with the remote but it stops blowing again later. I have the drain tube plugged into the top port and water drains out. There is no water in the condensation pan. The vent and hose are not blocked and plenty of clearence. I do not have the timer on. I set it to max using the remote. How can I set it so that it doesn’t shut off? I’d like to keep it but on the verge of returning it.
My temp say21 what’s the problem
I have had a Delonghi Pinguino 14k for over 5 years. I expected to last only a few years but it keeps going. Never a problem.
Last year I bought Bpp10wtb Black decker. Worked pretty well for a day or two. SUddenly would not blow cold air. I opend the back and found the compressor so hot i could not touch it. I would have thought there would be a sensor to turn compressor off. I guess it burned out.
Could it have been the room was to big.
This year I bought another black decker same model. . This time i noticed that the compressor had very thick insulation around it. I guess this is for noise but i wondered how does compressor get cooled. Well. when i put my finger under the insulation and you could have fried an egg on the compressor. I hesitate to keep running it.
what do think,.
Hey, Bob. As you’re already suspect your room maybe big as its capacity to cool down. So I would say, you should buy bigger one.
Why is my unit leaking water
Hey Martha,
There are a few reasons for this problem:
1. The drain pan is full. Portable AC units have a drain pan that collects the condensation from the cooling process. If the drain pan is full, the water will overflow. To fix this, empty the drain pan.
2. The drain hose is clogged. The drain hose is connected to the drain pan and carries the water away from the unit. If the drain hose is clogged, the water will back up and leak out of the unit. To fix this, clear the clog.
3. The unit is not level. Portable AC units should be level in order for the condensation to drain properly. If the unit is not level, the water will pool and leak out. To fix this, level the unit.
4. The unit is not properly sealed. The portable AC unit should be properly sealed in order to prevent water from leaking out. If the unit is not sealed properly, water can leak out of the seams or joints. To fix this, inspect the unit for leaks and seal any cracks or openings.
5. The unit is defective. In rare cases, the portable AC unit itself may be defective and leaking water. If you have tried all of the above and the unit is still leaking, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the leak yourself, you can contact a qualified technician for help. I hope this helps!
Have had Black and Decker portable air con unit for two summers now, and it has decided to stop working altogether. Won’t switch on at all.
I checked the plug socket and fuse in units plug, and all’s well there.
Called customer service and was told can’t help as I have mislaid the date of purchase and warranty. This is not a problem as the unit has a two year warranty (which I find a good indicator to giving the life span of products it seems).
If I am missing something that I can do to remedy this problem, pray tell please.
Other than that, maybe some one could tell me if there is a repair service.
I have looked around, but all are companies who only deal with big installed units in and around the home or business’, not the mobile unit like mine.
Thanks in advance. Fonz.
I understand that you are having trouble with your Black and Decker portable air conditioner. It sounds like you have checked the power supply and it is not the issue.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
* Check the air filter. If the air filter is dirty, it can restrict airflow and prevent the air conditioner from working properly. Clean or replace the air filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
* Check the exhaust hose. Make sure that the exhaust hose is not kinked or blocked.
* Check the condensate drain. Make sure that the condensate drain is not clogged.
* Reset the air conditioner. Unplug the air conditioner for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and try turning it on again.
If you have tried all of these things and the air conditioner still does not work, then you may need to contact a qualified technician for repair.
Here are some repair services that you can contact:
* Black and Decker Authorized Repair Centers: You can find a list of authorized repair centers on the Black and Decker website.
* Independent Repair Services: There are many independent repair services that can repair portable air conditioners. You can find these services by searching online or asking for recommendations from friends or family.
When choosing a repair service, be sure to get estimates from multiple services before making a decision. You should also make sure that the service is licensed and insured.
I hope this helps!
I have a black and decker BXAC40012GB air conditioner and it is useless at keeping my 12 feet x 14 feet flat living room cool. It does blow out cool air on the cool setting, fan speed on high but over a 5 hour continues usage period my room temp only went from 28.7C to 28.2!
Hi,
The BXAC40012GB has a cooling capacity of 14,000 BTUs, which is sufficient for a room of up to 120 square feet. Your living room is 168 square feet, so the air conditioner is not large enough to cool the entire space.
Here are a few things you can do to try to cool your room:
* Close any windows or doors that are open.
* Make sure that the air conditioner is not blocked by furniture or other objects.
* Clean the air filter. A dirty air filter can restrict airflow and reduce the cooling capacity of the air conditioner.
* Set the air conditioner to the highest fan speed.
* Point the air conditioner vents towards the hottest areas of the room.
If you have tried all of these things and the air conditioner is still not cooling your room effectively, you may need to purchase a larger air conditioner. You can refer this article for more information about Air Conditioner BTU Calculator: https://smartacsolutions.com/air-conditioner-btu-calculator/
